Senior Pastor

Rev. Philip Harrison

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life

Pastor Philip Harrison was born in Dallas, Texas to Paul and Delores Harrison of Sulphur Springs, Texas. He grew up in South Oak Cliff section of Dallas and graduated high school in 1988 from Business Management Magnet High School. He attended Mountain View College and El Centro College. Pastor Philip Harrison was married of 20 years to Mrs. Denisha Harrison who recently passed away after a battle with cancer in March 2023.
Pastor Harrison was called to the ministry of the gospel of Jesus Christ on January13, 2004. Although his ministry was birth out of the Potters House of Bishop T.D. Jakes Ministries, he preached his first sermon and licensed to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ on February 8, 2004 at the Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church, in Dallas, Texas. He served faithfully under the pastoral leadership of Pastor John A. Davis of the Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Pastor Harrison worked as President Treasurer and oversaw a finance committee for the church. He was awarded “Man of the Year” in 2009 at Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church after helping to build economic wealth for the church and renovated and restored different sections of the church building. Also, he served as Mission I (Women) spiritual guidance counselor and held the title New Member Minister for the church. He taught Bible Study, Sunday School and preached the Morning Worship services in minister rotation. Pastor Harrison moved his membership to Temple of Praises Community Church in 2010, under Pastor Sean Fuller where he became ordained under the Full Gospel Administration Director, Minister/Overseer Billy Adkison. He was installed as Associate Pastor over Finance and Men’s Ministry. He served under the Full Gospel Association under Bishop Paul Martin and District Leader Bishop Kenneth Spears.
In 2016 Minister Harrison locked arms with Cherry Grove Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs, Texas in October of 2016 where his great grandfather Preston Jones was one of the first installed deacons. He worked as Associate Pastor serving in all areas of leadership, re-branding the church’s identity and assisted with ministerial duties. He accepted the role as Senior Pastor in October of 2017 and currently presiding as senior leader. In 2019 he received the award for “Hopkins County African American Leadership Conference” Social Justice Award. Further, he continues to support the ministry and the community with his seat as Vice President over the Ministers Conference for the Cypress Baptist Association and a key member of the Hopkins County Christian Pastor’s Union.
One of Pastor Harrison best attributes is that he can dissect and teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young and old with relatable understanding. He’s able to touch different ethnic groups and bring together a flexible age range that all can learn and grow.
